Doug Sieben, age 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, due to kidney failure, which led to multiple organ failure.
Born Douglas Edward Sieben on June 21, 1942 in Jersey City, New Jersey to August and Marie Sieben. He grew up in Bayonne, NJ. Doug Sieben served as a military policeman in the U.S. Army, he was stationed at Sandia Base (KAFB) in Albuquerque, where he met the love of his life, Eva. They were married and raised their girls in Albuquerque.
Doug was a proud Fireman for the City of Albuquerque for 25 years, he loved driving the fire truck and retired when he was only 45. Everyone that worked with Doug at the fire station loved his food, he was an excellent cook. Doug was a lifetime softball player, up until the pandemic. He had a love of sports – especially baseball, basketball and football, along with all the “numbers” that came with them. He was rarely beatable at sports trivia. He had a ton of friends that the sports world brought to him.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Eva; daughters, Annette, Lisa, Gina Euell and her husband Brent; grandsons, Alex, Evan and Reyes; granddaughter-in-law, Jessica; and cherished great-granddaughter, Autumn. He is also survived by his two wonderful sisters, Jerry and Lori, from New Jersey.
Doug was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Aaron; his parents, mother, Marie and her husband Andrew, and father, August and his wife Margie, whom all welcomed him home. The thought of his reunion with Aaron provides the family with comfort.
Doug was the center and rock of our family. He had an extremely big heart and was very generous, wise and hilarious. Between his beloved family, his love for food, travel and sports, he lived a huge and fulfilled life. He is already greatly missed. Although gone way too soon, his cup runneth over. As Dad would say, "Win!".
A Memorial Service celebrating Doug's life will be held Thursday, October 7, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Lomas with a reception immediately following at El Patron on Montgomery.
