Doug Moore

May 18, 1942 — October 3, 2021

Alvin Douglas Moore, also known as "Tiger," passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at the age of 79. He is survived by his son, J. Brent Moore; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Keleher Moore; grandchildren, Caroline Mae Moore, Virginia Anne Moore, and Jonathan Douglas Moore; and his longtime friend, Karen Melfi. He was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Hughes Moore; and his father, William McKinley Moore.

Doug was born in Roy, New Mexico, on Monday, May 18, 1942, and he grew up in Harding County. He graduated from Mosquero High School in 1960 in a class of only eight students. He attended the Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico, and was on the university's rodeo team. It was in Portales that he met Glenna Hayes, and they eventually married and had one son. While they did not remain married, they always agreed upon their love and support for their son.

While he had many jobs over his lifetime in banking, quarter horse breeding, and insurance, he found his true passion and calling in the design of jewelry. He found the greatest joy in the design and manufacture of "wearable art", and he sold his creations in galleries throughout the western United States. Tiger was steadfast in his love of the western lifestyle, horses, boots, spurs, cowboy culture, the rodeo, and good friends. He will be remembered most as a good friend to many and a lover of life.

A Memorial Service will be held for him on Saturday, October 23, 2021, 3:30 p.m., at FRENCH-Lomas. His remains will be cremated, and then he will head home to Harding County to be placed at a later date next to his parents in the Solano Cemetery, which is located between Roy and Mosquero, New Mexico.
