Dorthy McBroom

Dorthy McBroom, 92, our beloved Mother and Nana, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. She was born and raised in Mobeetie, Texas. After graduating high school, Dorthy moved to nearby Pampa, Texas, where she started her first job as a telephone operator. It was during that time she met and married her husband of 43 years, Gardner (Mac) McBroom. They would move to New Mexico in 1957, residing in Farmington and Albuquerque. In later years, Dorthy enjoyed managing The Christmas Shop in Old Town, until the age of 80. Survived by daughters, Ann McBroom, and Jan Ussery and husband, Tony; and grandchildren, Evan Ussery, and Amber Ussery and partner, Erik Smith. Private Graveside Services will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, New Mexico. In her memory, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, act.alz.org.
