Dorothy Arsenia Vasquez

December 28, 1959 — October 6, 2022

Dorothy A. Vasquez, age 62, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022, with all of her family present. Dorothy was born on December 28, 1959 to her parents, Alice and Tim Medina in Tucumcari, NM. At an early age, Dorothy's parents moved their family to Albuquerque, NM where Dorothy attended school eventually graduating from Valley High School in 1977. While attending Valley, Dorothy met L.B. Vasquez and they started dating after the completion of their sophomore year. Dorothy and L.B. were married on February 17, 1979 in Albuquerque, NM starting an over 43 year exceptional marriage.

Dorothy was very active in the lives of all of hers and L.B.'s siblings which eventually moved to all her nephews and nieces. Dorothy's gift to all her nephews and nieces was getting every one of them their class rings even up to the latest graduate of the 2022 class Isabel Green. Dorothy was ardent in her love for her Savior, and she worked extensively in any job she could fulfill in His service. She worked as a church secretary and as a treasurer, as well as a devoted partner to her husband during his tenure as a deacon. Her greatest gift though was that as a prayer warrior as she and other women of her past membership with Rio Grande Baptist Church were called. Her faith and belief that God answers prayer was born true throughout her life allowing her the full confidence of God's blessing. Dorothy became a recent member of New Heights Baptist Church and even though her health prevented her from working as she desired, her prayers were constant in supporting all the local and worldwide missions of the church.

In 1994 Dorothy became the proud mother of Tim and Kelly Vasquez and her mission in life became the raising of her boys teaching them all she knew of God and to give them every opportunity to know Christ and His saving grace. In 2017 she brought into her life her daughter-in-law, Noemy Vasquez and gave her the same love and devotion she gave her boys. Early on in Kelly's life, she joined the Cerebral Palsy Parent Association (CPPA) to learn more of her son's condition and evolved from a parent looking for support to becoming a major influence in the organization as being the president of CPPA for the past several years.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, L.B. Vasquez; mother, Alice Medina; sons, Tim Vasquez and spouse, Noemy and Kelly Vasquez; sisters, Donna Medina and significant other, Woody Woodward and Debbie and husband, Chris Hernandez; brother, Tim Medina and fiancé, Danielle Pino; aunts and uncles, Mary and Tom Price, Stella and Nester Mendez, Georgia Schneider, Gloria and David Alarcon, and Raymond and Loraine Medina; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dalia and Jerome Griego and Chuck and Rose Mary De La Fuente; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
