Dorothy Ann Sumner passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness in the company of her children on January 25, 2024 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born October 18, 1931 in Denver, CO.
Dorothy was an avid horsewoman and explored many trails outside Montrose, CO with her adored horse Rocky and a group of other horsewomen, whose adventures she recalled often. She loved the outdoors and going fishing, hunting and camping with her family. Dorothy is also remembered for her sense of humor and quick wit, which she maintained until the very end. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving family members who were blessed to share Dorothy's life include a daughter, Yvonne Fox and son Paul Sumner and granddaughter Kirsten Santana of Albuquerque, NM, grandson Kirk Ferguson of Escondido, CA, and two great-grandchildren also in CA, her beloved brother Ted Anderson in Vancouver, WA, along with nieces in WA and nephews in CO.
Cremation has taken place. A special remembrance will be held at a later date.
