Dorothy Posey, 83, beloved Wife, Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Friend, and Nurse was called to her eternal resting place on May 24th, 2024. Dorothy was born to John and Flora Kindred on July 20th, 1940, in Birmingham, AL. She is survived by her daughter Adrienne Renee Posey, son Art Posey Jr., daughter-in love Marie Posey, grandchildren: Ashley Salazar, Katrina Weaver, Brandon Posey (Crescynthia), Joshua Weaver, Raelynn Weaver, Ronald Kyree Posey, and Ersie Posey and many great-grandchildren, brother John Kindred Jr.(Sheila), sister Corliss Kindred, many nieces and nephews, and friends and family members throughout the country.
Dorothy was reunited in death with her husband Arthur Posey Sr, grandson Eric Roddy, sister Cora Kindred, and brothers Andrew Kindred (Adrienne) and Al Ersie Posey (Angel).
Dorothy began her career at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. She attended the University of Albuquerque, where she received her associate's degree and became an RN. She then decided to pursue her bachelor of science in nursing and went on to receive her masters of science in health education from The University of New Mexico. While working at Presbyterian, Dorothy became the clinical nurse educator for the critical care unit. It was through this position that she found a passion for nursing and teaching.
Dorothy came from a family of teachers. Her mother, her aunts - all of the women who influenced her life - were educators. When she chose a different path and decided to become a nurse, she had no idea that these two professions would intersect to open doors she never imagined. Dorothy often shared that the best decision she made was to become a nurse and said that from nursing she developed a love for education, and had the opportunity to put them both together. Dorothy once said, "I've touched many lives in my time as a nurse and it's just been so enjoyable. Words can't even explain how I feel about it."
Dorothy was proud of her family, her accomplishments, her membership in her sorority, The Links Incorporated and her influence throughout the nursing community. She made a tremendous impact on many and will be missed by all.
A graveside memorial will be held on Friday, June 7th at 3:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial in Albuquerque, NM.
