Dorothy Pickering Phillips, born November 29, 1922, and passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2012. Dorothy was born in and grew up in Knoxville TN, where she met her sweetheart. They eloped before he went to serve in WWII, and she worked at the Pentagon in his absence. Upon his return she traveled the world as a military wife and raised four children. Dorothy loved family and friends, spending time with them and making special memories. She loved the beach, and especially spending time at the family's beach house in Tybee Island, Georgia. She loved music and dancing all of her 90 years. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 70 years, Claude C. Phillips, Jr.; sons, Claude (Phil) Phillips III and wife, Ardith and David Phillips and wife, Linda; daughters, Julie Gibertini and husband, Mark and Patricia Gutierrez and husband, Ariel; grandson, Jason Phillips; and granddaughters, Jennifer Phillips, Michelle Jones and husband, Ryan, and Alison Phillips. Services will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona NE in Albuquerque. Pallbearers will be Claude (Phil) Phillips III, David Phillips, Mark Gibertini and Ariel Gutierrez.
