Dorothy Miller

July 2, 1925 — March 3, 2013

MILLER, DOROTHY ARLEENAge 87, a resident of Los Lunas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 3, 2013. Dorothy Miller was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her daughters Laura Miller and Arleen Dee Montgomery; grandchildren, Greg McWhorter, Jeff McWhorter and wife, Lesley, Tammy Bear, Jonathan Selfridge and wife, Kimberly, and Sarah Miller and children; great grandchildren, Taylor McWhorter, Brandy, James, and Justin Bear; sons-in-law Jim Hammetter and Richard Montgomery; step grandsons, Brian Selfridge and wife, Christa, and Robert Selfridge. She was preceded in death by her husband and soul mate, James Baker (J.B.) Miller and son, James Rowland Miller. Dorothy had a warm personality and a great sense of humor. She enjoyed, taught, and shared the skills of gardening, sewing, and cooking. She was a devoted Christian and was a member of First Baptist Church of Los Lunas. She loved hymns and responded to music until the end of her life. She loved to share the way of Salvation with everyone. Dorothy was a warm, outgoing, caring, and forgiving person who touched the lives of everyone she met. She lived life to the fullest and always with courage and dignity. Dorothy worked alongside her husband J. B. farming in Anton, CO and on their dairy farm in Estancia. When the family moved to Albuquerque's south valley, Dorothy worked in a drugstore and in a school cafeteria. J.B. and Dorothy moved to Los Lunas after raising their family, where they owned a welding shop. Dorothy did the shop's bookkeeping, drove a rural mail route in Tome' and after J.B.'s death in 1994, she sold Avon. When her abilities were limited by a stroke, Dorothy continued to be very involved with church activities including Bible study and Bible school and with her gardening. Memorial Service was held March 4 at First Baptist Church, Los Lunas. Graveside service was March 6 at Sunset Memorial Park, Albuquerque. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
