Dorothy ended her struggle against multiple myeloma on August 19, 2012 at age 77. She was born in Saginaw, Michigan on May 8, 1935. She moved to Albuquerque with her family in 1943 and grew up here. She met her future husband, Art, when they were both members of Wesley Club at First Methodist Church. Dorothy and Art raised their family here in Albuquerque, and she retired from APS after a rewarding career as an elementary school secretary. A life-long University of Michigan football fan, Dorothy had many interests, but tops among them were singing in the Chancel Choir at FUMC and collecting her Santas in memory of her father. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 58 years, Art; children Janet, Bruce (Glory), Diane (Glenn), Nancy; grandchildren Katrina (Bill), Ronnie (Nikki), Aaron (Teila), Denny (Amanda), Ryan; great-grandchildren Connor, Rylee, Vicente - all of Albuquerque; brothers Jack (Gera) and Jay (Penny), many nieces and nephews, and her special Ms. Kitty. If there is a choir in heaven, and we bet there is, Dorothy will be right there in the soprano section, and after rehearsals she'll be treating all of the other angels to homemade pecan rolls, ice cream, and rolled white nutmeg cookies. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 25 at 10:00 am at First United Methodist Church, 314 Lead SW. A reception will follow. Interment will follow the reception at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 924 Menaul Blvd NE. Pallbearers will be Dorothy's grandchildren Katrina, Ronnie, Aaron, Denny, Ryan, and son-in-law Glenn. Friends may visit French - University Chapel, Friday August 24 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, Dorothy's family requests that memorials be made to the FUMC Chancel Choir Fund, P O Box 1638, Albuquerque 87103.
