Dorothy Louise Chavez, age 84, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joaquin; children, Dennis Chavez and wife, Linda, Gary Chavez, David Chavez, and Mary Lust and husband, Jeff; nine grandchildren, Nicole Buffington and husband, Colby, Teresa Chavez, Jacqueline Chavez, Michael Chavez, Matthew Chavez and wife, Nicole, Marshall Chavez and wife, Tabitha, Ray Baca and wife, Tamsyn, Zachary Ridgeway, and Kelsey Ridgeway; ten great-grandchildren, Nicolas, Hailey, Jaxon, Melodee, Isabel, Lyila, Elise, Corbyn, Jordyn, and Kaidyn; and other relatives and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Pauline McPherson; grandson, Damon Chavez; and sisters, Betty, Shirley, and Susie. She was born in 1932 in Ball Ground, Georgia. After graduation, she married Joaquin Chavez and in 1956 they moved to Albuquerque, NM with their three young sons and they were soon joined by a daughter. Dorothy was a quiet strong presence in a household of big personalities. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Lomas Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
