Dorothy Marie Burmeister, age 87, died suddenly Friday, July 15, 2016. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Albert "Al" Burmeister; children, Denise Burton and husband, Chuck of Waco, TX and Kent Burmeister and wife, Molly of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren, Andrea Terrell, Janeene McMinn and husband, Stephen, Matthew Burton, David Valentine, Stephanie Burmeister, Brigitte Burmeister, and Jacob Burmeister; eight great-grandchildren, Andrew, Kristina, Benjamin, Eric, Emily, Isaiah, Ava, and Christina; one great-great grandchild on the way; sisters, Audrey Collins, Myrtle Burge, and Georgiana Carrick; and numerous other relatives and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruby Rundle; son, Paul Burmeister; granddaughter, Celeste Burmeister; and sister, Wilma Haskins. She was born in Crawford, CO in 1929 and graduated from Grand Junction High School. Dorothy was a nurses aide in Grand Junction before moving to Denver where she met Albert. They were married on August 22, 1950 in Toledo, OH and she began her career as a military wife and mother. Dorothy loved to crochet and cross-stitch and was an avid reader. She also loved to do word searches. Dorothy was a loving and generous person, always putting her family first. She and Al were members of Messiah Lutheran Church since 1980. Dorothy was a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Graveside Service will take place on Friday, August 12, 2016, 9:45 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
