Doris married the love of her life, Charles Harris Walker, on June 20, 1948. Together, they built a beautiful life, moving to Albuquerque in 1960, where they raised their family and grew a thriving dental practice and commercial office space-achievements they took great pride in. Doris was deeply involved in her community, serving as Historian for the Albuquerque District Dental Auxiliary in 1964 and Treasurer in 1965.
She and Charles traveled the world together, experiencing life to the fullest. They also spent cherished time at Navajo Lake on their houseboat, making lifelong memories with their children and grandchildren. Doris had a passion for gardening, especially flowers, and a sharp sense of humor that never failed to catch people off guard-her dry, witty remarks could make anyone laugh.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles, and their eldest son, Charles Walker. She is survived by her sons, Bruce Walker (Cynthia) and Glenn Walker (Laura); her grandchildren, Lesha Dickerson (Slane), Skyler Walker, Hayden Walker, Grace Holly(Matt), and Austin Walker (Jaylen); and her great-grandchildren, Brady Dickerson (Abigail) and Alyndis Feregrino.
Doris and Charles were shaped by their experiences growing up during the Great Depression, and their resilience and strength carried them through life together. She was giving, caring, and deeply loved. Her legacy of strength, humor, and adventure will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Services will be held Friday, February 14, 2025, 1:30 p.m., at FRENCH - University. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Albuquerque Rose Society https://www.albuquerquerose.com/join-or-donate-with-paypal/.
“Reunited”
We think about you always,
We talk about you still,
You have never been forgotten,
And you never will.
You held your place with quiet grace,
A strength both fierce and true,
With wisdom sharp and humor dry,
That always shined right through.
You traveled far, you built a life,
With love both deep and wide,
And now, at last, you’ve found your way,
Back to Grandpa’s side.
Love does not fade, nor time erase,
The bond that carries on,
And though we miss you dearly,
We know you’re finally home.
