Doris Lillian Mortensen

Doris Lillian Mortensen, long-time resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Thursday, September, 28, 2017 in Albuquerque, NM.

She was born in 1919 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Martin and Minnie Christiansen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert H. Mortensen in 1977. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marla and Edward D. Kist; her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas G. and Geri Mortensen; four grandchildren, Jason Kist, Evan Kist, Heather Mortensen Spencer (Mark) and Darren Mortensen; Jason's wife, Paige and great-granddaughters, Hayden and Margaux; Evan's wife, Cara; great-granddaughters, Harper and Addison; and great-grandson, Jacob.

Doris was an active member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church. She retired from Sandia National Laboratories in 1984 where she was an Engineering Staff Assistant doing mathematical calculations for the Field Test Group. She was very active with the Sandia Roadrunner RV Group and also the Family Motor Coach Association, Chaparral Chapter.

Doris enjoyed playing bridge and traveling.  She loved to sew and liked being creative with her projects. She also liked to socialize with her friends and relatives. She had a quick smile, laughed a lot and always liked being in the company of others.  Doris was easy to talk to and if you couldn't think of a topic to discuss, she would help you find one. We will miss her quick smile and positive point of view.  May she rest in peace with the Lord.

Friends may visit Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas.  A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 5, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 211 Jefferson St, NE with Pastor Rachel Powell officiating.  Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery, where Doris will be laid to rest with Gil.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 211 Jefferson St. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
