Donna Rice passed away on October 17, 2015 at age 96. She was a certified Braillist and spent over 50 years as a volunteer, transcribing Braille for the public schools in both El Paso and Albuquerque. She so loved working with her friends at Aztec Complex for over 20 years. She also volunteered at Casa Esperanza and Make a Wish NM. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing into her 96th year. She knitted all her life and shared that skill as she taught many people to knit. She knitted many hats and blankets for the NICU at UNM and also for Cincinnati Children's Hospital. She was still knitting the week she passed away. Donna enjoyed her life at the Rancho Verde apartments and appreciated the love and care they showed her for over 20 years. She did love Saturday coffee hour. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Thank you to Drs. Roche, Sen, Mares, Shapiro and Miltenberger and their staffs for their wonderful care. Thank you also to Michelle and Courtney from Gentiva Home Health Care. Special thanks to Gentiva Acute Hospice, especially to Dr. Sansonetti and to nurse Paula. Your care of both Donna and our family was very much appreciated.
