Donald (Don) E. Benninghoff, passed away unexpectedly on November 3, 2021, in Albuquerque. Born May 5, 1958, a native of Albuquerque, graduated from West Mesa High School, he went on to UNM and NMSU. Donald retired from the NMSHD with more than 25 years of service. He traveled working in Jemez, Milan, and Albuquerque, as a highway design specialist.
He enjoyed many outdoor activities, was very detailed oriented, with a quick sense of humor, loved and took great care of us all.
Donald is survived by his companion, Jeannine Beck; brother, Kyle W. Benninghoff; nephew, Kyle Ray Benninghoff; all of Albuquerque; and step-nephew, Eric David of Prospect, Kentucky; aunt, Carol Benninghoff; aunt, Bea Robertson; uncle Wendell and wife Mary Chester; and 21 cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mildred Benninghoff; and step-brother, Byron Kim David.
Donald’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, November 20, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 3905 Las Vegas Dr. SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105.
Reception to follow.
Interment will be Saturday, November 20, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Cornerstone UMC or your favorite charity.
