Donald Max Zachary died peacefully at home on Friday, June 3, 2016. He was born in Newcastle, Indiana on January 23, 1928. He was the third of ten children born to Jesse Cordell and Laura Carter Zachary.
Don was proud of his service in World War II as a member of the Honor Guard under General Douglas MacArthur. He was a successful businessman in all that he did - from being a contractor, to owning an appliance store - he made businesses thrive. His greatest accomplishment in the business world was serving as one of the founders of Zachary Brothers Turquoise Jewelry Company. He was proud of the industry he helped to establish and loved seeing the pieces he made and sold worn by friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Laura; father, Jesse Cordell, Sr.; brothers, Jesse Cordell, Jr., Jack, and Richard, and his sister, Dorothy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Sylvia Zachary; brothers, James, Phillip, and David; sisters, Ruth and Carol; daughters, Donna, Barbara, and Linda; sons-in-law, Michael and Keith; granddaughters, Leslie, Alison, and Andrea; grandsons, Dalen and Charles; and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Zachary, Michael, Brent, Andrew and Abby.
