Donald William Schwenig

DONALD WILLIAM SCHWENIG Age 81, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, July 29, 2013. He is survived by his children, Sheri Martinez and husband, George, William C. Schwenig, Heidi Schwenig, Susie Lente and husband, Kevin, and Robert Schwenig; three grandchildren, Amanda and Avery Martinez, and Daisy Lente; brother, Robert Schwenig and wife, Violet; and numerous other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Martha Schwenig; and brother, Richard Schwenig. He was born in 1932 in Oak Park, IL and after high school entered the United States Marines where he proudly served during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge he owned and operated Melrose Park Tile Company for several years. He and his family moved to Carrizozo, NM where he owned and operated the Crossroads Motel. Don later moved to Albuquerque to be close to his children after retiring from Triways Trucking in CA. Don was a funny guy, he loved spending time golfing, gardening, and playing with the family dogs. He was a member of La Mesa Presbyterian Church. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013, 10:00 am at La Mesa Presbyterian Church, 7401 Copper Ave NE, with Pastor Trey Hammond officiating. Ennichement will take place at La Mesa Presbyterian Church. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to La Mesa Presbyterian Church.
