Donald T. Norkus, age 94, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and father-in-law, passed away early on Veteran's Day, Thursday, November 11, 2021. Born and raised in the Roseland neighborhood of south Chicago and a graduate of Fenger High School. Don was a very proud American, Korean War Veteran and Purple Heart recipient.
Preceded in death by his father, Joseph Jacob Norkus; mother, Patricia Mae (Urban); sister, Margaret; brother-in-law, Joseph Slowiak; brother, Edward; sister-in-law, Shirley, sister-in-law Linda (Squeo), and brother-in-law, Rocco Squeo.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Joyce; daughter, Dawn; son-in-law, Tim Patchett; son, Craig, and grandson, Carson Patchett. He was also an uncle to many loved nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed travel across America with Joyce by driving to many sites and national monuments. In his spare time Don read numerous mystery novels and enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles
A Viewing will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m., Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home and Cemetery, 11333 S. Central Ave. Oak Lawn, Il 60453.
