Donald Houston Flores Sr., 78, passed away peacefully August 18, 2017 with his wife by his side.
In addition to being survived by his wife Sue, he is also survived by his children, Lisa Stonesifer and husband, Craig, Kelly McLaughlin and husband, Chad; grandsons, Cole, Chase and Cody McLaughlin; and many other family and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, “Buster” and Opal; and his only brother, Bobby Gene.
He was a proud 25-year veteran of the United States Air Force and also retired from Sandia National Labs. Born in Texas, he moved to Albuquerque in 1988. He was an avid shooter who enjoyed skeet and trap competitions for many years. Most recently he could be found shooting targets weekly at the local gun ranges. Don also loved baseball. His favorite team was the New York Yankees. He rarely missed a game. He was always willing to share his passion for guns and baseball with others. Mr. Flores was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
Funeral Service in Albuquerque will be Thursday, August 24, 2017, 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 1500 Chelwood Park Blvd NE. Burial will follow at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Special Olympics of Delaware, 619 S. College Ave, Newark, DE 19716, or online at give.specialolympics.org/Delaware; or a charity of your choice.
