Donald Duke

Donald Wayman Duke, age 88 of Albuquerque, NM passed away peacefully in his home with loved ones by his side on December 21st. Don was born in Phoenix, Arizona on November 28, 1935 to Opal Eliza Sheets and William James Duke. Don spent his childhood in the Phoenix area and served in the US Navy from 1954-1958. Don's career after the military began in Phoenix with Oscar Mayer followed by General Electric in the early 60's before beginning a career in the insulation business with Williams Insulation. He was transferred to Prescott, Arizona in 1970 and then moved to Albuquerque in 1976 opening up Duke Insulation. Don was known in the community for being honest and trustworthy and valued hard work. He served as National President of ICAA, was a member of EAGA, Rotary Club, ABC and UNM Lobo Club and was a Popejoy supporter. Don was preceded in death by his wife Dee Duke, sons Wayne and Claude Duke, two brothers, Marvin and Leslie Duke and his sister Phyllis Zale. Don is survived by his wife Pam, daughter Cheryl Maloney and husband Casey, son Larry Kyle and wife Vicki, daughter Rhonda Larson and husband Van, daughter Brenda McCulla and husband Wayne and stepdaughter Shelly Collins and husband Wil. He had 29 grandkids, 69 great grandkids, and 15 great great grandkids.

He was a longtime member of the North Valley Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A viewing will be held January 4th at FRENCH-Wyoming from 6-8pm. A second viewing will be held January 5th 9am at the North Valley Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 1100 Montano Rd NW, followed by funeral services at 10am. Services are open to the public and all friends and family are welcome. The burial will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery 12:30 pm.
