Donald "Jack" Callaway, age 77, went to be with the Lord after a brief battle with cancer. He died peacefully on March 27th at home surrounded by his family. Jack had a zest for life and a great love for his family and many friends. He was born in Raton, New Mexico on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1938, along with his twin sister, Gail, to the parents of Joe and Thelma Callaway. Jack grew up in Raton and graduated from Raton High School in 1956. After graduating high school, Jack joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for 26 years, retiring in his home state at Kirtland Air Force Base in 1982. Jack spent the next 17 years working at the Defense Nuclear Agency. Upon retiring, Jack spent his time with his wife, children, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Near the end, Jack described himself as a very lucky man who was proud of his family, and he greatly appreciated being surrounded by his family and many friends. Jack maintained lifelong friendships with his high school classmates, colleagues and friends from all walks of life. Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor Mora Callaway, to whom he was married from 1961-1974; his twin sister, Gail; his brother, Bill; and his parents. Jack is survived by his wife Jackie; his son Errol, his son Michael and wife Sue; his daughter Jacqueline Martinez and husband Collin, his daughter Becky Mendez and husband Joe, his daughter Brenda Armijo and husband John, and his daughter Pam Fanelli. Services will be held at French Funerals-Cremations at 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE in Albuquerque. Viewing will be Tuesday, March 31, from 5:00-7:00 pm, and memorial service will be on Wednesday, April 1 at 1:00 pm followed by a reception at his home. Burial will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on April 2, 2015 at 11:00 am with full military honors
