Dominica (Pino) Chavez

Nica Chavez peacefully passed away in her home on September 5, 2022, at the age of 98. Nica is survived by her children, Jerri Davis, Paul Chavez, Stan Chavez and girlfriend, Lori, Darlene Sanchez and husband, Gilbert, and Ron Chavez. Nica had 10 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Polo Chavez, and grandson Cameron Chavez.

Nica was born in San Acacia, NM, on August 16, 1924, to Adrian Pino and Mariellita Luna-Pino. Nica was the fifth of nine children, Flora Grande, Ne', Antonio, Flora, Marcella, Veronica, Nica, Petrita and Arthur (Tudy). Nica lived most of her adult life in Albuquerque, NM. She attended Albuquerque High School. She was a homemaker and worked at Linkurt as an inspector in Quality Control. Nica was a faithful member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharist Minister, a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, a member of the choir, and played the tambourine. She attended all the Catholic Church fiestas where she enjoyed the live music and dancing. Nica was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She was extremely generous to all her family and friends. She will forever be in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 pm Monday September 19, 2022, at FRENCH-Wyoming. A Rosary will take place on Tuesday September 20, 2022, at 9:15 am with Mass following at 10:00 am at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Burial at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery will follow.
