Dolores Rivera Brooks entered this world on July 12th, 1940 in Las Palomas, NM, born to Jerry and Margarita Rivera. She was the younger sister to Leonardo who passed away in 2009. Dolores loved to sing and had performed in many school concerts.
Dolores met her first husband Vivian (deceased) just out of high school. They married August 1st of 1961 in Albuquerque, NM. They had two children: Leonard and Greg (deceased) Sedillo. She came upon many challenges; one for being a working woman, and another for raising two intellectually disabled children. She spent numerous years bringing awareness to the community about people with disabilities. Ensuring that they would not be discriminated nor excluded from equal education and the modern work force.
In 1976, Dolores met her late husband, Joe Brooks. They married on May 25th, 1978, in Albuquerque, NM and later had two children: Margaret and Joseph who both have proudly served in the US military. During this time, Dolores found her love for genealogy and early New Mexico history. She spent her days traveling to towns and cemeteries locating family members. In her later years, she found another passion for the art of dancing as she would dance her heart away day after day.
Dolores Brooks, 82, beloved daughter, spouse, mother, and grandmother was called to her eternal resting place on Thursday, February 23, 2023.
