On February 21, 2022, Dixie Dalene Easton Theobald, age 79, of Rio Rancho New Mexico, passed away peacefully in her home while surrounded by her family. Dixie is survived by her husband Leonard Raymond Theobald. Dixie and Leonard just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.
Dixie is also survived by her three children, three grandchildren and three sisters.
Children:
Daughter: Sundee Lorene Theobald Hudson, and her husband Cyril Hudson (Portland OR). Son: Dallas Raymond Theobald and his wife Cecilia Theobald; grandson Jordan Theobald and grandson Jesse Brown (Albuquerque, NM). Son: Kendell Lee Theobald, his wife Sharon Lee Theobald and granddaughter Shelby Rose Theobald (Albuquerque, NM).
Sisters:
Ruth Ann Easton Dougherty and her husband Wylie Dougherty (Prescott Valley, AZ); Charlotte Ilene Easton Kersey (Crescent Valley, NV); and Rusty Easton (Alamogordo, NM).
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister:
Parents: Dale Albert Easton, Mabel Sallee Easton and sister Sonja Lee Easton Montoya.
Dixie was born in Paris, Illinois on February 9, 1943. Dixie's parents moved their five girls from Illinois in 1947 to Albuquerque, NM where her father accepted a job at Sandia National Labs. Dixie attended the Albuquerque Public school system before marrying Leonard on February 17th, 1963 and starting their family in Albuquerque. Dixie was a very talented crafter in almost every aspect but especially painting. She had mastered her own techniques in the art of painting florals and painted on practically anything she could get her hands on. Her art was a big part of her life's passion, and her work will live on for years to come. Dixie was a very giving and generous person and helped many people in many ways throughout her life. If someone had a need and she could fill it, she did.
