Divinia Placino Brown, 72, of Albuquerque NM, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. Divinia (also known as Divine or Mama D) was born on August 3, 1950, to Misael and Cecilia Placino (preceded in death) in Cavite City, Phillippines. She spent her childhood in Olongapo, Phillippines with her parents and 7 siblings, 1 brother, Antonio (preceded in death), and 6 sisters, Bernadita (preceded in death), Consuelo (preceded in death), Edna (preceded in death), Francisca, Gracita, and Helena. Divinia graduated from St. Joseph School in 1969.
In 1972, Divinia joined a band called The Poggies and toured the world. Playing the drums, bass guitar, keyboard, and singing with her beautiful angelic voice. In 1981, during her tour in Germany, she met the love of her life, Donald Eugene Brown Sr. (preceded in death). They were married on February 1, 1982, and had 3 children. Divinia absolutely enjoyed the life she built with her husband, continuing to travel the world through military assignments and singing Karaoke together. After retiring in 2013, she returned to Albuquerque from Colorado Springs in July the following year and continued to live out the rest of her days spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she adored and loved so much.
She is survived by her children, Donald Jr. (Karla), La Tonya (Travis), and Cecilio; stepdaughters, Jeanine (Dylan) and Jennifer; grandchildren, Garrett, Keana, Kezeiah, Hozaiah, Emma, Janiya, Kenneth, Sarai, Dahani, and Tyson; aunt, Marita Webster; and cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2023, 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Westside, followed by a Service at 4:00 p.m.
