Dickie Dean Glenn

February 23, 1946 — December 12, 2022

Dickie Dean Glenn, a loving and wonderful man, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 12, 2022. He was 76 years of age. Dickie was born in Plainview, Texas, to Jim and Alice Glenn on February 23, 1946. He was raised in West Texas along with his three brothers and two sisters. The family settled in Midland, Texas, where he attended Cowden Junior High and Midland High School. He played football for the Bulldogs and graduated in 1965.

After graduation, Dicke joined his older brothers in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served in Vietnam (1968-1969), operating as a Recon Team Leader and Platoon Sergeant for both 1st Force Reconnaissance Company and 1st Recon Battalion. He returned home and started a flooring business, D&G Flooring, that he operated until his retirement.

He met the love of his life, Nancy Lynn Bunten, on a blind date, and the two were married in 1972. They would spend the next 30 years together building a happy life until her passing in 2002. They had one son, Jeremiah Donald Glenn.

Dickie continued to serve in the United States Marine Corps Reserve as part of Delta Company 4th Reconnaissance Battalion. He received an Honorable Discharge after 20 years of service, during which he obtained the rank of 1st Sgt.

The most important thing to Dickie was family. He was always there to lend an ear and support in any way possible. He was caring, compassionate, and truly one of the great men this world has seen. In his later years, he was active in the lives of his three grandchildren, who each brought him tremendous joy and laughter. He was there for every sporting event or important moment in their lives. He would help take them to or pick them up from school, and the bond they had was unbreakable. Dickie would drop by almost every night to give his granddaughter a brownie and watch her dance or put on performances.

Dickie was a proud Texan and rooted for most schools in the state, but the Longhorns and Red Raiders were his favorites. His pro team was the Dallas Cowboys, whom he agonized over and cheered on each Sunday. He loved to take trips with family or visit relatives. So many great memories were made on his boat, the "Nancy G," down at Elephant Butte.

Words can't express the great loss we are all feeling or how thankful we are to have had Dickie in our lives. He is survived by his son Jeremiah and wife Kat; grandchildren Mason, Brodie, and Harper; brothers Jimmie, and Bobby; sisters Elaine and Dell; sisters-in-law Sharon and Donna; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends, along with his dog Bo.

A visitation will be held at FRENCH-Wyoming, on December 28, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots ( toysfortots.org ) or the Salvation Army ( give.salvationarmyusa.org ).
