Diane Kay Wiler, a long-time resident of the Albuquerque area, passed away Saturday the 17th of June in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Diane was born in 1953 in Auburn, Indiana. Her family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico when she was a senior in high school. In 1973, she started her career as a certified respiratory therapy technician at University Heights Hospital. She was the acting director and assistant director of cardiopulmonary services for nearly a decade. Diane later went on to work in nearly all of Albuquerque’s hospitals and has cared for New Mexican patients for 44 years.
Despite living in the desert for most of her life, she loved the ocean, whales, and dolphins. Diane was known for her love of animals. She had a special place in heart for German shepherds. She also loved good food and especially good wine. She was extremely fond of traveling. She visited Australia, New Zealand, most of Europe, many parts of Central and South America. She had just finished touring her 50th state shortly before passing from pancreatic cancer.
Diane knew how to have fun and was always ready for an adventure, whether it was heading to an amusement park, hiking the Grand Canyon, riding a horse, singing Irish drinking songs, or simply spending time with friends and family. Many described her as a character you could never forget. She had a very honest and strong spirit, and her smile could light up a room.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday, June 29, 2017, 2:00 p.m., at FRENCH – Wyoming.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorial contributions be made to one of Diane’s favorite charities: World Wildlife Fund, Sierra Club, or The Nature Conservancy.
