Derek James Cordova

Derek James Cordova, age 29, beloved son, brother, grandson, and fiancé passed away on Thursday, January 26th, 2023, at the Presbyterian Rust Medical Center in Rio Rancho. Derek was born on April 30th, 1993, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, born to Marvin Cordova Sr. and Marie Trujillo.
Derek was a 2011 graduate of Mora High School and had earned his Associate Degree of Applied Science in Business Administration with honors from Central New Mexico Community College in 2022. Derek was also working on earning his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
Derek's true passion was in creating blueprints and plan sets in Auto CAD and creating electrical diagrams. and his dream was to own his own business to assist the many connections he had made while working in the industry.
Derek enjoyed spoiling his fiancée, little brother and three dogs as well as spending time outdoors going camping, fishing and off-roading with his older brother. Derek loved traveling to new places and especially loved spending his free time in Colorado.
Derek is survived by his fiancée, Shannon Phillips; father, Marvin Cordova Sr., older brother, Marvin Cordova Jr., older sister, Paula Duran, younger brothers, Ryan Trujillo and Jayden Cordova and grandparents, Michael and Florence Trujillo as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and a niece.
A private memorial service will be held for close family and friends in Albuquerque.
