Dennis Joseph Gaynor of Albuquerque, New Mexico, age 70, died Monday, December 14, 2015 at the University of New Mexico Hospital following a long and brave battle with cancer. Dennis leaves behind his family; wife of 49 years, Becky, and his sons Chris, an Albuquerque resident, and Michael, who resides in Amarillo, Texas with his wife Sheri and daughter Michaela.
The remaining four siblings and extended families are Joan Gaynor, Patti Lloyd with children Lauren and Joseph, Jim Gaynor with wife Toni and children Rahanon (with daughter Felicia) and Matthew, and Kathleen Brady with David Morrison. Dennis was born in Doylestown, PA on April 19, 1945; the first of five children born to Joseph and Agnes Gaynor.
Dennis and his wife, Becky, have been the owners of What a Trip travel agency in Albuquerque for the past 17 years. They enjoyed many great travel adventures and were always anxious to share their interesting stories and photos. Some trips included scuba diving in tropical locations such as Australia, Tahiti, Fiji, Mexico, and the Caribbean. His favorite trip was an African safari.
His hobbies were golf, photography, sports cars, sightseeing and home improvement projects reflecting his artistic flair and style.
Dennis was a very dedicated family man and was always eager to host festive gatherings and parties with family, friends and neighbors. He especially relished cooking gourmet holiday feasts and frequent summer barbeque/swim parties at his home; always ready to socialize and have some fun. He was quick witted, kind, caring, generous and we were blessed to have had him in our lives.
Services will be held Saturday, December 19, 2015, 10:00 a.m., at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8600 Academy Rd. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the UNM Cancer Center.
