Dennis D. Brand

July 9, 1946 — January 26, 2020

Dennis D. Brand passed away suddenly Sunday, January 26, 2020. He is survived by his son, Dustin D. Brand (Albuquerque); his daughter, Taryn B. (Matt) Fine; and his four grandchildren, Aaron, Adam, Abigail and Adalynn (Indiana).

Dennis worked as a professional Civil and Environmental Engineer for over 50 years. He was involved in everything from bridges to well stations and much in-between in this time. Starting in Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and then Illinois after Purdue, Dennis worked in Albuquerque and the State of New Mexico since 1981. During his time in NM, Dennis worked on everything from water systems in Ruidoso, to Intel Corps. massive needs in Rio/Albuquerque or secret projects at Sandia/Kirtland. He worked all over NM and many people knew him for his expertise, but also his humor and being a great guy.

Many people would have called it a day and clocked out, but Dennis was different. He loved his job. He loved his work. He also loved his co-workers and the people he met and built relationships with all over New Mexico. At 73 he went to work last Friday as he did many other days in his 50+ year career. Semi-retired, he still went in and put in more work and more time than he needed to because that was him.

Dennis was a best friend to his son, a rock, a sounding board, and his personal software tester. He was the best father any child could have imagined. Always there to support, listen, tell us when we were wrong, laugh with, tell jokes to, and learn new things together. He loved to fish and nature in general. He also loved his St Louis Cardinals. His children and grandchildren were the most important aspects of his life. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020, 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH-Westside.
