At the much too young age of 61, Denise passed away quietly at home, surrounded by her loving husband and family, on Sunday, April 7, 2013. She was a trailblazer: world traveler, not afraid of taking chances, full of life and adventure. Denise traveled to the UAE to work as a nurse, and there met her husband, Ron, beginning a life together with many adventures, including racing catamarans and traveling the world. She loved good food, good wine and the company of many good friends. On returning to Canada, they started camping again, as they once enjoyed in Dubai. After moving to NM, they traveled extensively in their travel trailer. Denise continued to work as a nurse at UNM Hospital up until she had to retire due to ill health. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Ron McLoughlin; their "child", Bess; her parents, Audrey and Garth Hamilton; sisters, Shelley Sanders and husband, Ron and Dale Hamilton-Dare and husband, Greg; brothers, Colin Hamilton and wife, Joanne and Greg Hamilton and wife, Linda; numerous nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. A Remembrance Service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013, 2:00 p.m., at French - University location, with viewing one hour prior from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Following the service, a Celebration of Denise's Life will be held at the Santa Ana Prairie Star Ballroom, 288 Prairie Star Rd, Santa Ana Pueblo, Bernalillo, NM. Should friends desire, contributions may be made in Denise's memory to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Montgomery Blvd. NE, Ste 300, Albuquerque, NM 87111.
