Delia Gallegos passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017. She was born in 1940 in Las Vegas, NM to Jacobo and Ramona Encinias and she attended Robertson High School. In 1956 she met the love of her life, Joe Gallegos, at the Silver Spur and they married May 28, 1960. They had seven children. For 12 years, they were foster parents to over 120 children. They lived in Las Vegas until 1986 when they moved to Gallup, NM. In 1989 they moved to Albuquerque and called it home.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jacobo , and Ramona Encinias; sisters, Marie Judd, Dolores Juarez, and Phyllis (Jimmy) Rodriguez; brother, Frank Encinias; sisters-in-law, Josie Encinias and Mary Lucy Encinias.

She is survived by her seven children, Michael Gallegos (Jane), Sofia Lucero (Greg), Henry Gallegos (Debbie), Lisa Briggs-Valdez, Stephanie Gallegos, Johnny Gallegos and April Gallegos (Nick); brother, Tony Encinias; sisters, Theresa Archuleta (Ruben), and Marcie Lovato (Leo); and sister-in-law, Margaret Gallegos. She is also survived by her 14 grandkids; nine great-grandkids; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; extended family; and amazing, loving friends who will all miss her dearly.

She was a member of The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister, belonged to the Altar Rosary Society, volunteered at the gift shop, Quilting Club, Canossian Sisters, RCIA and Antioch.

She loved cooking for everyone and had a passion for crocheting, knitting and quilting especially with her friends and her loving husband who was always there to lend a helping hand.

We will go on because we know that's what she would want. However we will miss her more than words could ever express. We will try to stay strong and never forget all the love she has ever given us all. Please watch over us. This is not goodbye, it is "until we see you again.

A Rosary will be recited Monday, August 14, 2017, 8:30 a.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd NE in Albuquerque followed by Eulogy and Funeral Mass. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107. Should friends desire, memorial contributions in Delia's name may be made to The Shrine of St. Bernadette.
