Dee Herrmann

Age 65, passed away at home surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease on Sunday, March 3, 2013. She was born in Albuquerque, NM on September 22, 1947. She was a passionate English teacher for Albuquerque Public Schools for 31 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Hans Herrmann; children, Dee Dee Griffin (Justin), Kristin Herrmann, and Jimmy Herrmann (Angela) and four furry children, Squirt, Emma, Duke, and Tommy; grandchildren, Alice and Molly Herrmann; and her younger brother, Father Jerry Johnson. Dee was preceded in death by her father, Adrian Johnson; mother, Leila Johnson; sister, Marie Cowan; brothers, Jay Johnson, Jim Johnson, and Michael Johnson. She was a lover of family, God, friends, students, dogs, literature, grammar, flowers, and card games. Dee's heart shined brighter than a full moon on a clear New Mexico night. She devoted her life to showing the utmost love and support to her family as well as educating children. Her laugh, love, and smile will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in memory of Dee Herrmann to either the Alzheimer's Association Albuquerque Chapter, 505-266-4473, or the Animal Humane of New Mexico, 505-255-5523.
