David L. Stretch Sr., 96, of Albuquerque died on Thursday, May 26, 2016. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Dorothy Hembree Stretch.
He was born in Aliquippa, PA. As a young man he "rode the rails" and worked in the steel mills. He proudly served his country, for 20 years, in the U.S. Army retiring in 1968. After the Army he worked for 14 years for the Bell Telephone Company until his retirement in 1982. After retiring, he loved golf and genealogy where he traced his family tree centuries back.
David was a loving husband, proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia A. Parrott and her husband William of Albuquerque; grandson, Brian Parrott and wife Misty and their children Brandon, Bradley, and Briannah, all of Edgewood, NM; grandson, Troy Parrott and wife Margaret and their children, Cody, Caleb, Hughie, and Lillie, all of Albuquerque. David is also survived by his son, Larry T. Stretch and wife Patricia and their child, Deborah Charelson and husband, Brian, all of Pennsylvania; nephew, Jack Tinsman and wife Nancy and family; and niece, Alois Egan and family, all of Virginia.
Friends and family may visit Monday, June 13, 2016, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. Graveside Services will full military honors will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2016, 2:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM.
