Emblem

David Michael Skowran, 85, died on April 21, 2025. He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Maurreen and Erin.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, on August 16, 1939, David grew up in Pittsburgh and left to serve his country with honor for 26 years in the United States Air Force, specializing in telecommunications. He retired as a senior master sergeant and continued his public service in the federal civil sector.

David earned an associate degree in computer science from Sinclair Community College in Ohio. He brought his deep sense of diligence and fairness to everything he did. In his Albuquerque community, he served for several years as treasurer of the Las Lomitas Neighborhood Association and the West Side Coalition of Neighborhood Associations.

A man of many interests, David loved puzzles of all kinds, science fiction, keeping fit, and caring for his yard. He also volunteered as part of a balloon ground crew. He planned for contingencies and kept thorough and meticulous records.

True to his Irish roots, David made an unforgettable corned beef and cabbage. He was also famous among family and friends for his pancakes and grilled potatoes. He was ahead of his time in his egalitarian partnership with his beloved late wife, Patrica Skowran (nee Sullivan).

David was a proud member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He deeply valued time spent with his daughters. He is survived by daughters Erin Skowran and Maurreen Skowran (spouse Sandra Nemeth), and son Kieth Skowran, who will remember him for his wit, steadiness, and deep love.
