David "Jeep" Schell, SSgt. USAF (Ret)

David "Jeep" Schell, SSgt. USAF (Ret), age 65, passed away suddenly Monday, February 25, 2019.

An avid Jeep lover born in Columbus, Ohio on April 10, 1953, and longtime resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Dave joined the Air Force right out of high school and served his country loyally for 9 years and 2 months as an avionic navigation systems technician.  After being honorably discharged from the United States Air Force, he worked for the civil service for 20 additional years at Kirtland Air Force Base, contributing his service to his country.  Dave had a passion for Jeeps, 4-wheeling, fishing, camping, enjoyed working on vehicles for not only himself but many friends, and was involved in pit crews for dirt track racing and drag racing.

He is survived by his brother, John Schell; and his wife, Peggy of New Jersey; and his sister, Julie Lyon of New Mexico.  Dave has four nephews and one niece, four great nephews and two great nieces; along with a number of cousins throughout the United States.

Dave will be honored and celebrated at the American Legion Post 49, Monday, March 11, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. where he was a member and spent time with his many friends.   The family would like to thank all of Dave's friends and the American Legion for all of their concern and help with Dave's passing.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Legion Post 49, 11005 Central Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87123 would be greatly appreciated.
