David W. McCarty

McCARTY, DAVID W. Age 79, of Los Lunas, left us to join his many friends, on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. He is survived by Ruth Des Jardins of the home, son Jeff McCarty and wife Pat of Portales, daughter Michelle Lofton of Mansfield, TX. He was a grandfather to; Joshua McCarty and wife Rae of Portales, Shari Morris and husband Zack of Portales, Danette Jimenez and husband Beto of Mansfield, TX, and Melissa Lofton of Ft. Worth, TX; great-grandfather to; Joshua, Cooper and Michael. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, other family members and good friends. David was preceded in death by his parents; Jasper W. and Alene McCarty, his sister Luana Hopkins; his twin brother Jasper Newton McCarty and his son, Dudley Wells McCarty. He was born and raised in Clovis, New Mexico, in 1949 his family moved to Portales and started Mac's Drive - In. The family sold the restaurant in 1957 and he moved to Albuquerque and started Mac's Drive - In on Lomas, which became a hangout for local high school kids. Later Mr. McCarty proudly owned and operated five Mac's Steak in the Rough Drive-In's. He was also awarded Restaurateur of the Year for the State of New Mexico. Friends and family are invited to a visitation at FRENCH - University on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH - University, burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
