David Charles Lynch (Champ) was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Wednesday, April 8 1936, to Martha and Walter Lynch.
At the age of 15, while living in Los Angeles, California, he meet his future wife at a playground who was 12 years old at the time. They went on to marry when she turned 18 and he was 21 years old.
He enlisted in the United Sates Air Force in August of 1954 and served as a supply stock records specialist until July of 1958 when he was honorably discharged at the age of 21. He married his wife, Gladys Soledad Hernandez that same year, and went to college at the University of Texas El Paso where he received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1963. He reentered the Air Force in 1963 and received his commission through Officer Training School where he was a distinguished graduate. David went on to serve in the United States Air Force until December of 1988 when he retired at the rank of Colonel. He also achieved the rank of Black Belt in Judo while he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. David was a Graduate of Squadron Officers School, Air Command and Staff College, The Industrial College of the Armed Forces and a master's degree in business administration from New Mexico Highlands University.
After his retirement he went to work for the Bell Boeing Aircraft Corporation in Washington, DC, until 1992. He and Gladys then returned to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where they have lived until his passing on Thursday January 12, 2023. David attended church at Sangre De Cristo with his wife for many years.
David Lynch is survived by his wife, Gladys Lynch; and two sons, Marcus and Roger. His eldest son, David Jr. passed way in 2007. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
A Service will be held at FRENCH-Wyoming, on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 2:30 pm with a visitation beginning at 1:30 pm.
