David Alan Jones (known to family and friends as 'Dave'), passed away in Albuquerque, New Mexico on
January 31, 2025 at the age of 66. He was born on March 13, 1958, in Farmington, New Mexico, the
firstborn son of W. Marshall Jones and Rowena Hewitt. In his youth, he enjoyed playing street football
and Hot Wheels with his brothers and friends, as well as building and flying his model airplanes.
He graduated from El Dorado High School in 1976 and went on to become a master mechanic, working
at auto dealer service shops like Galles and Garcia Cadillac. He was well-known as an automotive expert
and was always willing to lend his expertise to family and friends. His love for cars extended to a passion
for NASCAR and you could often catch him watching the races on TV on the weekends. He liked to drag
race his own '70 Chevelle that he did all the mechanical work on. He was also an avid motorcyclist. He
was so proud of his Harley and absolutely loved riding it with his friends or solo.
Dave spent much of his time outdoors. He loved to hunt for deer, elk, and antelope and made an
amazing green chile elk stew. He enjoyed going on road trips with his dad and brothers, especially
throughout southern Colorado, where they visited ghost towns and mines and fished wherever they
could while enjoying many laughs and good times. He was also a skilled bowler with a 300 game to his
credit. He was always listening to music, especially classic rock n' roll, with favorites including Led
Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.
He appreciated spending time with his family and friends. He was a dedicated dad to his three sons and
known by his many nieces and nephews for his quick wit and dry sense of humor. He and his brothers
would exchange puns that had the whole family rolling their eyes. He was also a long-time member of a
likeminded group of friends who now call themselves "The Old Man Group."
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, W. Marshall Jones and Rowena Hewitt. He is survived by
his three sons, Kyle (Mikala) Jones, Keith (Kendra) Jones, and Troy Jones, and two grandchildren, Kaylee
and Christopher Furness, as well as his brothers Ronald (Joy) Jones and Robert (Tracey) Jones, and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends, family, and admirers are invited to a celebration of life which will be held Saturday, February 22
