David Alan Johnson

d. September 1, 2017

David Alan Johnson, age 58, passed away September 1, 2017. His infinite selflessness, infectious smile, and love of being the jokester made him a terrific father, a loving husband, and a fierce friend. David was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. He graduated from Oklahoma City University, where he also obtained an MBA. He was highly successful in his career in banking, which spanned more than 30 years in Houston, El Paso, Tulsa, and Dallas. He spent his free time using his hands to create beautiful pieces of art and woodwork. Though he spent much of his life starting new projects and leaving others unfinished, he had a natural creative talent that left those lucky enough to experience it in awe. His heart for others was bigger than his chest; he felt a deep love for all those around him, especially his family. He was unwavering in his belief and love for his Lord and Savior, and had the true heart of a servant. He had a deep concern for America's youth, serving for years as a Cub Scout leader and volunteer soccer assistant. He expressed that if he ever won the lottery, he would invest it in efforts to encourage and inspire passions of young people while helping prevent the pain, poverty, and bullying that is so common. His deepest desire upon his passing was not for people to feel sorrow, but to carry on his legacy by practicing kindness and doing all they can to better the world he loved so well.

He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Tammy, of the home; his son, Ty Johnson of Norman, OK; daughter, Cara Johnson of Edmond, OK; his step son, Croft Fite and wife, Caro of Austin; and step daughter, Aubrey Fite of NYC. He is also survived by his parents, Wesley and Elsie a Johnson of Albuquerque; his sister, Marci Weigle and her husband, Tom of Baltimore, MD; nieces, Brittany and Taylor Weigle, and nephew, Ryan Weigle, all of Baltimore, MD; his uncle, Robert Johnson; and cousins, Dwayne and Eric Johnson. Also touched by David's life were extended family members who meant the world to him, including parents-in-law, Jim and Donna Aubrey; brother-in-law, Robert Aubrey and wife, Shari; sisters-in-law, Melissa Demas and husband, Chris, and Jill Anderson and husband, Kirk.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., MDT, at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8600 Academy Rd. NE, Albuquerque, NM.
