David Patrick Gutierrez

David Patrick Gutierrez was born in Albuquerque on the 21 of August 1971 and entered into the arms of our Lord on the 14 of February 2022.

He is survived by the light of his life, his daughter, Delany Rose Gutierrez. David is survived by numerous aunts, cousins, and friends who loved him generously. Deep gratitude for his friend Zach Grant who supported David in innumerable ways.

David was predeceased by his father, George; grandparents, Policarpio and Antonia Armijo, and Fernando and Luz Gutierrez. In life, David had a special and close bond with his aunt Bertha and uncle Fred Denman, and cousins Michael Denman and Gina Foster.

That Monday morning when our lord gently lifted your hand and led you back to His side, little did we know that smile, phone call, conversation and the meal would be the last we would have with you. Until we are together one again, we are left with sacred memories.

David, the devoted and loving father to Delaney who was his everything; the apple of his eye, the beat of his heart, and the air that propelled him upward. The friend who made you laugh, listened, supported, and encouraged. David who lovingly never allowed a dog to be neglected, abandoned, or without a home. The sports enthusiast whose dedication to the Dallas Cowboys was beyond description while always leaving room for the NY Yankees. The son, uncle, nephew, cousin and brother-in-law. You believed in family and found great joy, strength, and comfort in its embrace; you never gave up hope in the ideal of “true” family. The brother whose bond with your only sibling transcended simplistic descriptions and whose relationship was that only two brothers who deeply loved one another can understand.

Dearest David, words will never fully describe the impact of your life or the depth of our loss and love. You were good, kind, gentle and your heart knew no boundaries; now is the time for you to rest. Go gently on your next journey. We say goodbye comforted in the knowledge your dad was waiting for you as he led you to the arms of Christ. We now rest in the hope we will see you again. You will be waiting to accompany us to the new dawn and together, with all those that we have loved, we will walk with Jesus in life everlasting. David’s life has not ended; it is now forever changed.

Mass will be celebrated Monday, March 7, 2022, 10:00 a.m.at Queen of Heaven Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave NE.  Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd NE.

A celebration of David’s life will be held this summer.
