David Leonard Daves, age 56, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 14, 2022. David was born Friday, June 17, 1966 in Albuquerque, graduated from Eldorado HS, and attended UNM. He is survived by his mother, Lynda Hahn; and stepdad, Jim Martin; aunt, Barbara Hahn; cousin, Valerie Sedor (husband, John and children, Katie and Hollie); cousin, Mike Hahn; and cousin, Larry Hahn (wife, Amy and children, Kelsey Zielinski (husband, Zach) and Mitchell). Raised as an only child, over the past several years David connected with and loved his half-siblings: sister, Rachel Stocker (husband, Adam, and children); and brothers, Shay and Chris Daves, each of whom came to be very important in his life. David is also loved and survived by the many members of his Martin “step-family” including uncle and aunt Dave and Dotty Martin, and family; aunt and uncle Barbara and Dan Baderman; and, stepbrothers, James Martin, Jr. (wife, Tammy) and David Martin (wife, Ellie and children, Toby and Zia). David is also survived by ex-wife, Christy and her daughter, Haley.
David had many friends whom he cherished and who loved him in return. Special friends and extended family who share our loss include Richard and Trish Bianchi and family; Ivall and Vaunetta Miller and family; and, Debi Cone and family.
David was a man of strength, heart, and compassion – always willing to lend a hand to other people, or animals in need, and was devoted to his dogs Peanut and Piper. David was filled with curiosity, always learning something about his interests and hobbies whether new or old. He built cars, motorcycles, and bicycles; did woodworking and carving; remodeled his kitchen; and loved to hike and camp. He was truly a “jack-of-all-trades and a master of most”. David was retired from UPS and did landscaping and yard-maintenance for a group of loyal customers, many of whom also became friends.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, Westray (Bo) Daves; and his uncle, Johnny Hahn.
