David Gerald Blackmon

September 28, 1945 — January 14, 2014

David, 68, a resident of Ruidoso, NM since 1990, passed into eternity Tuesday, January 14, 2014, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in San Antonio, TX and made Albuquerque his home after his discharge from the Military in 1964. David is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, David, Jr. (Delia), John, and Manuel; daughter, Samantha (Jesse), all of Ruidoso; grandchildren, Victoria, Leslie (Jhovany), Jesus (Ivy), David Oscar, David G. III, Sammy, Alexis, Isabella, John Jr., Orlando, Santiago, Monique, Manuel "Alex", Lauren, Layton, and Aubri; great-grandchildren, John III, Frankye, Abriella, and Junior; brothers, George Blackmon and RC Blackmon (Patty); and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by brother, Joe Blackmon; mother, Eloise Blackmon; and father, RC Blackmon, Sr. from San Antonio, TX. David was the Director of Radiology at the Lincoln County Medical Center, where he served for 35 years with the Presbyterian System. He loved fishing and golfing. David was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him. Mass will be Celebrated on Friday, January 17, 2014, 10:00 a.m., at The Mission of San Jose de Los Duranes, 2110 Los Luceros Rd. NW, with Deacon Manuel Montoya officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Oscar, Manuel "Alex", Monique, Orlando, Jesus, and Santiago. Honorary pallbearers will be Lauren and Layton. I want to thank our friends and family for all of the prayers and support given to us during David's illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Montgomery Blvd. NE, Suite 300, Albuquerque, NM 87111.
