Darlyne Edith Miller was born in Portland, Oregon on March 23, 1934. She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, a devout wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma. Darlyne grew up in Portland where she enjoyed riding horses bareback with her sisters. She loved that everything in Oregon was so green from abundant rain. She married Jerald Duane Miller and moved to Alamogordo, NM where they had two children, Jerilyn, and Kenneth. They moved to Munich, Germany and traveled all over the world for three years, returning to Alamogordo, and eventually moving to Albuquerque where they became invested in their community through church, volunteering, and Sunday lunches with their kids and grandkids.
Darlyne was known for her keen sense of humor, her competitive nature, and especially her incredible artistic talent. She was head of the art department for American Furniture, where her sketches of furniture were printed in local newspaper ads for many years. She was very good at table tennis, enjoyed gardening, and for a time had an impressive garden in her backyard which she kept meticulously. Throughout her life, Darlyne practiced her skilled artistry in painting, sculpting, sketching, and scratchboard. Darlyne was very generous, donating to many organizations, reading books to nursing home residents, and sharing her knowledge of the Bible. She spent many hours baking everyone's favorite meals and desserts for holidays and showed her love through teasing and practical jokes.
Darlyne will be dearly missed by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerald, whom she was married to for 63 years, her daughter Jerilyn, and her daughter-in-law Lynn. Darlyne is survived by her children: her son-in-law Fabian, her son Kenneth and his wife Tisha, her grandchildren: Danae, Jordan and his wife Brittany, Nathan and his wife Hannah, Andrew, and Matthew, and her great granddaughters: Imani and Halle.
