Harvey Dale Allison was born July 14, 1938 in Pocahontas, AR to Harvey Willis and Zeta Nell Allison. He grew up on the family farm with his siblings Ann, Joan, and Fielden. When he was ten-years-old, Dale's uncle took him to a Cardinals game in Chicago, which sparked a life-long love of baseball - especially the Cardinals.
In 1960, Dale enlisted in the Air Force. In 1962, while stationed in Arkansas, Dale's sister Joan introduced him to the love of his life, Jane Eubanks, who he married on June 5, 1964, in Paragould, AR. In August, 1965, Dale left the Air Force to finish his schooling at Harding University, eventually achieving a Master's Degree in Education.
In 1967, they were blessed with their first child, Suzie. The following year, Dale and Jane both took positions teaching on the Navajo reservation and moved to Lake Valley, NM. In 1969, they moved to Dzilth-Na-O-Dith-Hle, near Farmington, NM, where they were blessed with their second child, Sara. In 1977, the family moved back to Arkansas while Dale tried his hand at trucking for a year, during which they were blessed with their third child, James. Returning to New Mexico and the BIA, Dale eventually retired as principal of Torreon Day School in Cuba, NM.
Dale loved to travel and took the family on driving adventures all across the country. Dale visited all 50 states, six continents, and especially liked to visit his missionary brother in Africa. His passion for travel and baseball came together as he and Jane visited 23 major league ballparks and often traveled to Arizona to watch spring training.
Dale's hobbies also included carpentry, photography, bowling, golf and music. But his chief enjoyment came from spending time with his family, who treasure their memories of listening to him play and sing around a campfire.
For 27 years, Dale and Jane were members of the Riverside Church of Christ, where Dale delighted in leading the singing.
Harvey Dale Allison went home to be with his heavenly father on Monday, June 20, 2016, at peace and surrounded by his family, just shy of his 78th birthday. He is survived his wife of 52 years, Jane; their three children, Suzie Torres (Ray), Sara Ghormley (Doug), and James Allison (Cristy); their grandchildren, Jacob, Matthew, Evan, Rachel, Mindy, Jacey and Jarren, and his siblings, Ann Nelson (Terry), Joan VanRheenen (Dwayne), and Fielden Allison (Janet).
