D. Joan Dennis

Joan Dennis, the daughter of the late Jerome and Martha Massay, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 90. Born in Carrollton, Ohio, on December 6, 1933, Joan was known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering commitment to her family and community.

Joan graduated from The Ohio State University, where she pursued her passion for home economics. She loved her family, serving her church, and sharing her talents in cooking and baking with those around her. Her grandchildren adored her.

Joan is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Ron Dennis; and her beloved children, Kelly (Patti) Dennis, Laurie (Greg) Andriate, Jill (Michael) Gavin, and Michelle (Chuck) Cheatham. Joan was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren, Christopher (Hillary) Dennis, Kylie Dennis, Joshua (Audrey) Gavin, Margaret Gavin, Camille Gavin, Meredith (Theo) Pham, Julie Gavin, Caleb (Kayla) Cheatham, and Mallory Cheatham. She was a great-grandmother to two beautiful little girls, Ellie Gavin and Robin Dennis; and a beloved sister to her brothers, the late David (Audrey) Massay and Joe (Mary Lou) Massay.

Joan's family and friends will forever cherish the memory of her kindness, compassion, and the many ways she touched their lives. A memorial service to honor Joan's life and legacy will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024, 3:00 p.m., at Las Placitas Presbyterian Church, 7 Paseo de San Antonio, Placitas, NM 87043. Though Joan is no longer with us, her warmth and sweet spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Joan is now with our Lord and Savior.
