Cynthia Mary (Girdlestone) Hausenfleck

July 7, 1938 — January 8, 2018

Cynthia Mary Hausenfleck (Girdlestone) died after a long battle with Alzheimer's in Albuquerque, New Mexico on January 8, 2018 at the age of 79. Cynthia is survived by her children, Elizabeth Hausenfleck, Eric Hausenfleck and Charles Michael Hausenfleck. She is also survived by her brothers Jim Girdlestone of Palm Desert, California and Pat Girdlestone of Grants Pass, Oregon. Cynthia was born July 7, 1938 in Norwich, England to Elizabeth Girdlestone-Plummer and Sidney Girdlestone. She moved to the United States in 1955 where she lived and worked in Atwater, California until she met and married, Charles Hausenfleck. Together, they embarked on a 29 year military career taking them across the United States and to Okinawa. Thereafter, Cynthia ran a loving day care out of her home in Walnut Grove, California. It is here that she touched the lives of so many families.

A celebration of life is scheduled for July 8th at Wimpy's Restaurant in Walnut Grove, California. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Cynthia's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your local animal shelter in Cynthia's name. Condolences can be sent to lhausenfleck@gmail.com. The family would like to thank the Memory Care Staff at Palmilla Assistant Living as well as Elizabeth Patterson and her fabulous hospice team at Hospice of New Mexico, 2900 Louisiana Blvd., for their wonderful care and support during this difficult journey.

My mother would not want anyone to grieve for her, but rather she would like the memory of her to be a happy one. To leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. An echo whispering softly down the way. Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. She would want the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun; Of happy memories that she leaves when life is done.
