Cruz Chavez, the last of her siblings, passed away August 4, 2015 at the age of 94. She is preceded in death by her husband Orlando Chavez Sr.; her son, Pelajio Tapia, and her grandsons, Phillip Chavez and Maurice Keyohara. She is survived by her children, Candy Chavez, Lorraine Baca, Frances and husband Jerry Salazar, Orlando Chavez and wife Cathy; her grandchildren, Veronica and Oscar Magallanes, Louie Chavez, Patricia Kerstien, Doreen Chavez, Manuel Madrid, Eric Tapia, Louisa and husband, Jimmy Archuleta, Jaime Baca, Melissa and husband Scott McKenna, Melanie and husband Keith Nagel and 24 great and great-great grandchildren. She had a zest for life and was beautiful inside and out. She loved all of her children. She was an incredible baker, making cherry and lemon meringue pies and bread. She loved chili and Viet Taste chicken soup. She enjoyed playing bingo and traveling, making a trip to Alaska at the age of 89. The family will miss her dearly and wish to share this poem: A beautiful garden now stands alone, Missing the one who nurtured it. But now she is gone, Her flowers still bloom, and the sun still shines. A Viewing will be held Sunday, August 9, 2015 from 3 to 5 p.m. at FRENCH - Westside, followed by a Rosary at 5 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, August 10, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 562 Atrisco Drive SW, followed by a Graveside Service at Mt.
