With a heaviness beyond comprehension, we announce the passing of Craig Michael Hauquitz, a faithful, passionate follower of Jesus Christ, adoring husband, cherished father, devoted son, loving brother, and true friend. Craig entered the gates of heaven on February 22nd, 2025 after a fatal bicycle accident. Craig's life was one filled with radiating joy, boundless energy, warmth, generosity and infectious laughter. He was known for his deep heart for Jesus and unwavering zeal for those around him to know that same love and eternal life with God. He fiercely loved his family with all that he was.
Craig will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Bryn (Draper) Hauquitz and their children Keenan, Elliot, Lucy, Juliette, Silas and Zeke who were blessed beyond measure to have called him theirs. Born in Albuquerque, NM to Scott and Susan Hauquitz and oldest of five children. He is survived by his parents and siblings including Chris (Hailee), Denae Fetters (Chris), Melissa Horwath (Steve), and Katie Frazier (Joel) and was an awesome uncle to many nieces and nephews. Craig grew up in Albuquerque where his life was forever changed after hearing about the forgiveness of sins through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He went on to New Mexico State University, serving in the ministry of CRU, telling people about the extravagant love of God with a boldness that could only be from God. While at NMSU, Craig met his wife Bryn and they were married on May 29, 2004.
Craig and Bryn began a family and moved to French speaking Africa in 2007 where they spent their lives sharing this same news and helping in humanitarian efforts. In 2023 because of medical reasons, Craig and his family relocated to Albuquerque and began working with CRU on the UNM campus, hosting Bible studies and continuing to reach out to people in need. His passion for the Lord and helping meet the needs he saw enriched the lives of those around him. He brought lasting joy and comfort to those who knew him and his legacy of compassion, generosity, and energy will be felt for generations. The way he lived fully for the Lord was an inspiration and will continue to spur us on.
Craig's family invites you to join us in thanking God for him through a celebration of life worship service on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Desert Springs Church at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a mission organization of your choice, sending people to the world to share the message of Jesus.
