Corliss Padilla, 89, loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully on January 12, 2016. Corliss was known for her sweet disposition and love of family and friends. She was the kitchen manager at Albuquerque Academy from the day it was founded in 1955 until she retired in 1990. Corliss loved politics and was well known in the North valley for her enthusiastic work in the Democratic Party, serving as vice chair for the party in the early 1970's.
Corliss was preceded in death by her husband, Emiliano Padilla; her son, Vincent Padilla; two brothers, Clem and Lloyd Martin; and her sisters, Geneva Padilla and most recently Millicent Garcia.
She is survived by three foster sons, Eddie Carballo, Desi and Rudy Alvarez; nephew, Michael Padilla who lovingly cared for her till the end. She leaves behind her loving companions, her two pugs, Tisha and Tasha. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 1860 Griegos Rd NW. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Humane Society of Albuquerque, animalhumanenm.org.
